This recipe
also includes raisins or fruit for some added interest.
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup golden syrup
1 lb. raisins or mixed fruit
1 tsp mixed spice
1 cup thick sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
3 1/2 breakfast cups flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Dissolve soda in 3 Tbsp. boiling
water. Add to syrup and sugar. Add cream, flour and spice. Mix well.
Add fruit and bake about 1 hour in moderate oven.
