4 1/2 c Flour, all-purpose
1 tb Sugar
1 ts Soda
1 tb Baking powder
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 c Shortening
1 pk Yeast, dry
1/4 c Water; warm (105 to 115)
2 c Buttermilk
Butter (or marg.); melted
Ham; sliced
Combine first 5 ingredients; mix well. Cut in shortening. dissolve
yeast in water; add yeast mixture and buttermilk to flour mixutre,
mixing well.
Turn dough out on a floured surface, and kenad until smooth and
elastic (about 8 to 10 minutes). Roll dough to 1/4" thickness, and
brush with melted butter. Cut with a 2" biscuit cutter, and place
1/2" apart on a greased baking sheet; top each with a second biscuit.
Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Fill with sliced ham.
NOTE: Dough may be refrigerated up to 1 week before rolling out.
