1/2 c Water
1/4 c Cider vinegar
1/4 c Butter or margarine
2 tb Sugar
2 tb Worcestershire sauce
1 tb Prepared mustard
1 1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Black pepper
1/4 ts Red pepper
1 sl Lemon; thick
1 sl Onion; thick
1/2 c Catsup

Combine all ingredients except catsup in a heavy medium saucepan;
bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer,
partially covered, for 20 mins. Remove from heat; discard lemon and
onion slices, and stir in catsup. YIELD: 1 1/2 cups
NOTES : You may add a tiny drop of liquid smoke if you like a smokey
flavor.
