1 1/2 c Shortening; melted
1 Garlic clove; pressed
ds Pepper
1 sm Lemon; thinly sliced
1/2 md Onion; finely chopped
1 ts Chili powder
2 c White vinegar
1/2 c Red wine vinegar
Combine shortening, garlic, pepper, lemon, onion, and chili powder in
a saucepan; cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in vinegar; bring
to a boil. Use to baste any meat or game. Keep warm while using.
Yield: about 4-1/2 cups.
Note: This special sauce contains no tomatoes which would burn as the
meat cooks long and slow.
